Water Quality - What the Experts Say
Public Information Forum about the state of Key West's nearshore waters, as part of Last Stand’s campaign to make our beaches safe.
The Forum will be Wednesday, May 14, at NOAA's Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center at the Truman Waterfront, Key West.
The program begins at 5:30 pm, followed by refreshments in partnership with Green Drinks
The program is free of charge and the public is welcome.

Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority Unveils Rain Barrel


Mayor Morgan McPherson and FKAA Executive Director Jim Reynolds unveil the FKAA rainbarrel.

FKAA recently presented their first rain barrel on February 21.  The project was spearheaded by Nancy Muñoz and Patty Kemp and decorated by Dori Anderson.  Instructions on how to build your own rain barrel, along with other great water conservation ideas can be found on the FKAA website at http://www.fkaa.com/WaterConservation/.  With water in Lake Okeechobee and the Florida Keys on water restrictions, rain barrels are a great way to collect water that can be used for

Join Love Your Island and Glee for Lunch and Learn on Saturday, March 29 from 12-2.  The topic will be Water Conservation with guest speaker Colleen Teagle from the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA).  As part of the program, participants will get to make their own rain barrels.  All of the necessary materials will be provided.  Cost is $40 per person and reservations are a must.  Please call Taron Higgs at 305-293-3265 or via email at thiggs@historictours.com.
